Weekly Match Report

DIVISION 3

Havant Club picked up their 1st win of the season as they went on the road to Alex Bowls and won 7 – 5.  Paul Taylor got the home team off to a good start as he won his brace.  The Havant club hit back as Mark Mottershaw won his 2 frames and it was backed up by team mate Paul Jewkes who was on last and he held his nerve to win and take his team over the winning line, for a much-earnt 1st win of the season.

Broadoak Dandy’s had home advantage and duly made it pay as they beat ABC’s 9 – 3.  Darren Swanborough got the ball rolling as he won his brace of frames.  It was in the middle of the draw as the Dandy’s got well over the line as Carl Fuggle, Karl Swanborough and Ioan Moon all won their matches to get them well past the post.  The highlight for the ABC’s was Ronnie O’Sullivan who made the score a bit better as he won his brace.

Broadoak had a good time on their travels as they won 11 – 1 at Cowplain Misfits.  Dean Bates for Cowplain got a draw but that was as good as it got for the home team with Broadoak had players on form as Mark Harmer, Lance Cornwell, Andy White, Simon Munday and Simon Fleming all picking up wins to get and emphatic team win.

NEBC had a close encounter with Cowplain X but just edged it 7 – 5.  Mike Dorey for NEBC got a brace as did Will Garrett for Cowplain.  It was at the end where skipper for the NEBC Adrian Pledge held on to win his 2 frames to just get them over the line.

DIVISION 2

Craneswater R went to Cowplain and came away with an 8 – 4 victory.  Craig Skeggs and Neil Kirby got the Cowplain team off to a good start but, for Craneswater Joe Rigby pulled a couple of frames back and it was at the back end of the night where Craneswater piled on the pressure as Spencer Nelson, Robbie Parsons 34 break, and then at the end Anthony Mitas-Pahita all won their matches to get them over the winning post.

Bellair X had home advantage and won 8 – 4 against Copnor D.  Trevor Sanders for Bellair got them off to a good start, this was cancelled out by Copnor’s Dave Glover.  Lee Harding and Dave Riddell got the home team back in front only for Andy Hall pulling a brace back for Copnor.  The Bellair got over the line thanks to Archie Archer as he won a brace.

Ensworth B went to Pompey Royals and won a close encounter 7 – 5.  Paul Chivers got the Royals off to a good start as he won his 2 frames.  Paul Merrett and Wayne Talley put the Emsworth team in front only for Jason Orchard to get it back level.  Steven Cutler had the final say for Emsworth as he won his frames to get his team over the winning line.

It was a battle of the Copnor teams as the E team took on the Xcels, with the latter just edging it 7 – 5.  Adam Osbourne with a 33 break got the E team off to a good start but Andy Chambers soon cancelled that out, the lead was restored by Dan Walter as he won his brace only for Wayne Laxton winning his brace and levelling it back up.  It was at the end where the Xcels had Sam Laxton to thank as he won his brace of frames and made a 50 break to boot.

DIVISION 1

Top of the table Waterlooville Bananas went to Craneswater A and just fell short losing 7 – 5.  Lee Rendle for the Bananas won his match and this was backed up by brother Wayne who did likewise.  The Craneswater team piled the pressure on in the 2nd half of the night as Rob Kirby, Grant Vernon and then skipper Mark Jones all winning a brace each to just get over the line.

Post Office had a close encounter with Cowplain Z and came out on the right side of a 7 – 5 victory.  Heath Smith for Cowplain won his brace and that was it for the home team as the Post Office gave thanks to Liam Odriscoll and then at the end Shane Dormer both winning a brace a got them over the winning post.

Waterlooville C and Portchester X couldn’t be split as they fought out a 6 – 6 draw.  Richard Pickering got the C team off to a flyer winning his brace.  Jason Tame with a 40 break and then Adam Gillen both won their matches to just get in front but for Waterlooville Mark Pitman held his nerve and duly won the last 2 frames on the night to level the game and on the night.
