In the penultimate week in the PRLC it was all to play for the top 4 positions in each group.
GROUP A
Copnor D entertained Havant on their own tables and won 9 – 3. Andy Bushnell played well to win his match and this was backed up by Andy Hall and at the end Tim Coombes who both won a brace each. Craneswater A went on their travels to ABC’s and came away with an 8 – 4 victory. Andy Boulton was on form for Craneswater as he won his brace of frames with 2 breaks of 40. This was cancelled out by Danny O’Sullivan as he won his match but it was at the end where Craneswater won the night as MarkcJones and Rob Kirby both won their matches to take the game on the night.
Emsworth B went to Cowplain Z and won on the night 8 – 4.
GROUP C
NEBC went to the top of the table after a close 7 – 5 win over Copnor A & E. It was at the start where the night was won as Jay Burgess won his 2 frames and as the rest of the games were drawn NEBC just edged it. Lee Eden had the high break of 47 but was on the end of a loss. Portchester X had home advantage as they won 8 – 4. It looked like it was heading for a draw on the night until Mark Kingswell and then Matt James both
won their matches and that was the difference.
GROUP D
Bellair A and Pompey Royals couldn’t be split as they fought out a 6 – 6 draw. Tony May starred for the Bellair team as he won his match with a brace. Mark Bell won his match for Royals and cancelled out the win to draw the night level. Cowplain X went on their travels to Craneswater R and duly won 8 – 4. Robbie Parsons got the ball rolling for the home team winning his match. It was at the end where Cowplain X won on the night as the last 3 players of Will Garrett, James Curtis and Pete Gorvin with a 32 break took them over the line.
Waterlooville C lost a close match to Post Office 7 – 5. Rob Derry Snr won his match for the C team but Liam O’Driscoll and at the end Matt Paffett both won their games to take the Posties over the line.
GROUP B
Emsworth A won on their own tables against Waterlooville Bananas 8 – 4. For Emsworth Rob Chapman, Chris Hardyman and Gavin Mengham all won their brace of frames to get them over the line. Ben Cotton had the last laugh as he
won his match but was still on the losing side. Bellair X went to Broadoak and came away with an 8 – 4 victory. It was at the end where Bellair won the match as they had to thank Lee Harding and Andy Howell who both played their part as they both won a brace each. The final round of matches is in the NEW YEAR where the final 16 teams will enter the knockout stage.
