PORTSMOUTH SNOOKER LEAGUE WRITE UP

DIVISION 3

Broadoak Dandy’s went on their travels to NEBC and came away with an 8 – 4 win.  Eddie Orsmond got the Dandy’s off to a flyer as he won his brace.  Kelvin Connor and Carl Fuggle helped their team mate out as they won their 2 frames each.  Highlight for NEBC was Mike Dorey who won his match.

Broadoak kept up their good form as they brushed aside Havant Club 8 – 4.  Simon Munday went on first and won his brace and Lance Cornwell did exactly the same as he won his match.  It was a good day for Lance as he had to play again under the 5-man rule and again won a brace.  Matt Goble for Havant won his brace as a consolation.

ABC had home advantage and just made it pay as they fought out a 7 – 5 victory over Cowplain X.  Pete Govin for Cowplain got them off to a good start but, this was cancelled out as Matt Sheath won his brace.  It was at the end where ABC won it as Karl Davies held his nerve and won his 2 frames to get his team just past the winning line.

ABs went to Cowplain and came away with a close 7 – 5 victory.  Danny O’Sullivan started off well for the AB’s as he won his 2 frames and this was backed up by Johnny Hartley who did likewise.  Ryan Houghton for Cowplain was the brace winner for his team but the Cowplain outfit just came up short.

DIVISION 2

Craneswater R had the big win of the week as they won 10 – 2 against Copnor D.  Spencer Nelson won his brace and so did Joe Rigby with a 31 break.  Grant Vernon continued the trend for Craneswater as he won his match.  Anthony Mitas-Pahita with a good 44 break also won a brace and took his team out of sight.  Mark Richardson also made a 32 break for the home team.

Emsworth B went on the road to Cowplain and only just won with a 7 – 5 victory.  Craig Skeggs for the home team and Neil Kirby both won their matches to give them a good start.  Steven Cutler and Jim Baldwin cancelled out those matches as they both won a brace.  It was at the end where Emsworth won the game as Wayne Talley played well to win his brace to take his team over the line.

There was no splitting Bellair X and Copnor Xcels as they drew 6 – 6.  Phil Andrews and Karl Smith both won their matches to give Bellair a good start.  Dean Russell pulled a brace back for Copnor and then at the end it was up to Sam Laxton who with a 53 break won his match and to level it up on the night.

Copnor E and Pompey Royals couldn’t be split as they also fought out a 6 – 6 draw.  Adam Osbourne got the Copnor team off to a flyer as he won his 2 frames.  John Wyatt played well as he backed Adam up by also winning a brace.  Royals spoilt Copnor’s victory as Paul Chivers and Martin Bell went on last and both came away with a brace each to salvage the points and a draw on the night

DIVISION 1

Top of the league Waterlooville Bananas went to Emsworth but was on the end of 8 – 4 defeat.  Greg Harding and Gavin Mengham both won their brace each to give the home team a good start.  Lee Rendle won his 2 frames to give Bananas hope but in the final match of the night Nick Fegan for Emsworth won his 2 frames to give the night belonging to Emsworth.

Bellair A went on their travels and came away with 7 – 5 win against Craneswater A.  For Bellair Greg Jones was on form with breaks of 52 and 31 in his brace of frames.  Simon Tulley also won his match for Bellair as they took their team over the line.  Andy Boulton for Craneswater had to settle for a draw but made a break of 45 clearance.

There was no separating Waterlooville C and Post Office as they fought out a 6 – 6 draw.  Mark Pitman for Waterlooville got them off to a good start, but this was cancelled out by Jamie Farrow who also won.  Richie Burnett restored the lead for Waterlooville to take them to the brink of a win until, Matt Paffett for Post Office won his match to level it up.

In the last match of the night Copnor A & E entertained Portchester X and the 2 sides couldn’t be split as they drew 6 – 6.  Ant Lacey got the Copnor team off to a good start as he won a brace.  This was cancelled out as for Portchester Matt James and then Jason Tame with a 33 break both won their brace of frames.  Skipper Scott Compton saved the day for Copnor as with breaks of 44 and 36 won his frames to level it up on the night.
