League Report

DIVISION 1

2 of the big guns locked heads as Copnor A & E played Craneswater A with Copnor just coming out on top 7 – 5.  Craneswater started the better with Ian Carter winning his match and 2 frames.  The next 2 were draws but Copnor stepped up the ante as Lee Eden 32 break and Steve Toms with breaks of 31 and 38 also winning a brace.  Andy Boulton made a good break of 46 but was on the losing end in his match.  Copnor just edging the night.

Waterlooville Bananas remain top of the pile as they beat Bellair A 9 – 3.  Connor Benzy for the Bananas won his brace and this was backed up by team mates of Dan Lee with a 32 break and skipper Lee Rendle also winning his couple of frames, to keep the slippery bananas on top.

Portchester X entertained Cowplain Z and duly won 8 – 4.  Adam Gillen won his brace of frames for Portchester and this was helped as Luke Roberts won his game.  The icing on the cake was made by ever reliable captain Jason Tame who also won a brace.  The highlight for Cowplain was Steve Hughes who done his best winning his 2 frames.

Emsworth A and Waterlooville C couldn’t be split as they drew 6 – 6.  It started great for Waterlooville as Richie Burnett and Rob Derry Snr both won their 2 frames each to give them a good start.  It was in the 2nd half of the night where Emsworth pulled it back as Greg Harding and then Richard Chapman held his nerve at the end to both win their games to level it up on the night.

DIVISION 3

Cowplain X had the biggest win of the week as they beat Havant Club 11 – 1.  Dave Banassi, James Curtis, Darren Arnold, Roy Steere and Will Garrett all won their respective matches to give them a great win.  The highlight for Havant was Karl Carpenter who stopped the whitewash as he drew his match and put them on the board.

It was the battle of the Broadoak teams as the Dandy’s entertained their rivals in Broadoak.  It was a tail of a good start and finish with Andy White for the away side Broadoak and then at the end Simon Cornwell both winning their matches to give them a slight victory and got them over the line, winning 8 – 4.

NEBC had home advantage as they took on the ABC B and it was NEBC who won 8 – 4.  For NEBC it was Colin Elliott who got them off to a good start as he won a brace of frames.  Jay Burgess and Derek Sandy both won a brace in the middle of the night to get them passed the post.  Paul Wilson for the ABC won his 2 frames to give them a decent end.

ABC and Cowplain Misfits couldn’t be split as they fought out a 6 – 6 draw.  Dean Bates for Cowplain got them off to a good start but, this was cancelled out by Darren Paffett who did likewise.  Ryan Houghton restores the lead for the away team and that looked to be the difference, captain for ABC Matt Sheath won his 2 frames to level it up and on the night.

DIVISION 2

Emsworth B went on their travels to play Copnor E and came away with a 11 – 1 win.  Jamie Bateman, Chester Bailey, John Morrison, Wayne Talley and Simon Cutler all won a brace a piece.  The whitewash was stopped by Copnor’s Dan Walter who drew his match to stop the rout.

Craneswater R had no troubles on the road as they went to Pompey Royals and came away with an 8 – 4 victory.  Martin Richardson started the ball rolling for Craneswater as he won his match.  Rich Parsons and Joe Rigby both won their brace of frames for Craneswater to take them past the winning post.  Tony Lee for the Royals won his match but the night belonged to Craneswater.

In the last match of the night there was no splitting Bellair X and Cowplain Gas.  Craig Skeggs got the away team Cowplain off to a good start as he won his brace.  This was cancelled out by Lee Harding as he also won a brace to level it up.  There was no splitting the last 3 matches as they were all draws and the draw was the end result on the night.
