Weekly match report

DIVISION 2

Bellair X had the biggest win of the week by whitewashing Pompey Royals 12 – 0.  It was a case what I can do see if the others can follow, and they certainly did as Trevor Sanders started it off and followed by Karl Smith, Dave Riddell, Lee Harding 32 break and Archie Archer all won a brace apiece to have a good night on their own baize.

It was the battle of the Copnor teams as the E team took on the D team with the latter coming out on top 10 – 2.  It was 4 out of 4 for the D team as the first 4 players won 2 frames each with Andy Hall, Dave Glover, Anthony Bushnell and Mick Hall all winning.  Dan Walter and John Wyatt won a frame each for the E team to stop a whitewash.

Copnor Xcel’s went on the road to Cowplain Gas and came away with an 8 – 4 victory.  Sam Laxton with a 42 break for Copnor won his brace but this was cancelled out by terry Lees to level it up.  Andy Chambers restored the Copnor’s lead as he won a brace only for Paul Leest to make it level again.  It was the last 2 games that Copnor won on the night as a father and son duo did the damage.  Wayne and George Laxton both won their matches to make it a good night.

Craneswater R had home advantage as they beat Emsworth B 8 – 4.  Joe Rigby, Grant Vernon and Rod McBain did the dame mid-way through the night as they all won a brace apiece to just get them over the line.  Martin Richardson hit the high break of the night in this league with a 50 but he could only draw his match.

DIVISION 1

Copnor A & E entertained Bellair A and duly won 9 – 3.  Chris Wilson started it for the home team as he won a couple of frames.  Steve Toms 38 break, Lee Eden 35 break both won their games and this was finished off with Paul Ashmore 33 break.  Highlight for Bellair was that of Tony May who won his brace of frames.

Emsworth A had home advantage and showed it picking up a 10 – 2 win against Cowplain X.  Nick Fegan, Greg Harding and Gavin Mengham all won their matches to give them a good start.  Aaron Jacobs ended on a high for Emsworth as he won a brace to.  Heath Smith for Cowplain had a 38 break in his drawn game.

Craneswater A just came out on top against Waterlooville C winning 7 – 5.  Kenny Morgan won his match for the C team, but this was quickly erased by Wayne O’Driscoll who did the same.  Mark Pitman restored the Waterlooville team advantage but it was the end where Craneswater had Andy Boulton and Rob Kirby 44 break on form as they won a brace each to take them just past the post.

DIVISION 3

Broadoak were on their own tables and it showed as they beat ABC’s 9 – 3.  Lance Cornwell, Andy White and Mike Harmer all won a brace each to make the difference on the night

NEBC had a good night as they won 8 – 4 against Havant.  It started well for the Havant team as Karl Carpenter won his match.  Colin Elliott ruled that out as he won his match for NEBC.  The Havant team got back in front as Mark Mottershaw won his game but the NEBC left it to the end as Jay Burgess, Adrian Pledge and Mark Richmond won 2 frames each to get them over the line.

It was a battle of the Cowplain teams as the Cowplain Misfits took on Cowplain X.  It started well for the X team as they went 4 nil up thanks to James Curtis and George Steere.  Dave Weedon and Steve Dewhurst look as if they had gained a draw only for at the end Roy Steere played well and held his nerve to pick up a brace for the X team to get them past the post.

Broadoak Dandy’s came away from ABC with a 7 – 5 result.  It was at the start where the night was won as Iona Moon was the only player for the Dandy’s to win a brace and with all the other games draws it just went to the Dandy’s on the night.
